1.Who are you ? How old are you ? Do you travel completely alone... if not who do you travel with?

My name is Dana Dance-Schissel and I am 46 years old. I travel constantly, sometimes alone, sometimes with my kids, most often with my husband.

2.How long have you been living full time in a Mobile-Home (camper-van, RV, etc)?

I live "full-time" in stretches, but still have a bricks and mortar home base in Vail, CO. I started RVing about 15 years ago.

3.What the best thing about being female and on the road?

Freedom!!! I love roaming and the RV life gives me that in spades. Other forms of travel are a bit more limited and certainly more expensive. I live where I want and how I want in the RV.

4.Conversely what is the worst thing about being female and on the road?

Those who think it is not normal and/or unsafe for a woman to live on the road. I just ignore them, haha.

5.How do you decide on where to stay?

Location is everything. I prefer scenery over convenience. Planning is essential when staying a distance from conveniences. The rewards of nature, water, mountains and solitude are priceless though.

6.What is the most surreal places that you visited?

Anywhere scenic and desolate. I like to go to places where the land is untouched. This helps me connect with the beauty of the place. I always lean toward ocean and mountain locales.

7.What are some common items savvy travelers bring with them (that less-savvy travelers don't)/ what could you not live in a mobile-home without ?

My dog, wine and water. Fresh veggies, too. Citronella candles are a natural way to keep pests at bay which is essential for me as well.

8.How do you get work everywhere?/ How do you have an income?

I recently retired, so I don't worry about this one anymore. However, I used to work online as a psychology professor. I also wrote curriculum for online education providers.

9.How did your friends & family feel/ react when you told them you were going to travel full time?

Most were envious. Most people I know dream of a life like this! People think they could never do it though. If you're willing to let go of unnecessary things to live with less, it is possible for most.

10. What inspired you to hit the road?

I get bored if I'm in a spot for too long. I plan to exit this world with nothing left unseen!
