When you’re on a camping trip, the last thing you want to do is cook a complicated dinner in your cramped RV kitchen, especially over the hot summer months. It gets muggy enough here in the South without adding the humidity of boiling water and the heat of the oven! Fortunately, there are some ways you can make meal prep in your RV go a bit quicker and easier. Try some of these tips to take the stress out of cooking meals in your RV.

Use a Slow Cooker

The slow cooker is an underrated kitchen item that takes much of the work out of creating a hot meal. Fill up your slow cooker in the morning with broth, meat, chopped vegetables, and spices, then turn it on and let it sit while you soak up the sun or go swimming. In six to eight hours, you’ll have a hot dinner that everyone will enjoy.

Grill Outside

If you’ve got the space to pack a grill or if your campsite comes with a convenient grill, make use of it! Grilling outside is generally much less stifling than using the kitchen, and you can simply prepare cold fixings inside, like slicing tomatoes or making a salad. Grill extra chicken breasts, cuts of fish, steak, or sausages that you can put in the fridge and pull out tomorrow to add to a pasta or green salad or a sandwich.

Prep Cold Meals

Don’t bother turning on the oven or stove at all when it’s really hot outside. Instead, plan some cold meals like granola and fresh fruit parfaits, cereal with milk and fruit, smoothies, sandwiches, and salads. You could go the whole day without using anything more complicated than a toaster if you want and you’ll still enjoy everything you eat.
